Athletic
Director or Coach,
Thank
you for choosing to attend the 2013 Pioneer Invitational. Our new name tournament sponsor elected
to return to our original name and we will stay with this until the foreseeable
future. In our fifth year, we are
continuing to stay with a bracket tournament style and hope to avoid the
dreaded "sixth match" dilemma. It will run similar to a one-day
sectional event and help our wrestlers prepare for such. Please read the instructions
carefully.

Extras
can fill in brackets, as needed.
Mats,
Food and Locker Facilities
Teams
will be assigned to a locker room, with space available for those who wish to
bring locks and store their gear. Gear bags may also be placed in the
warm-up room (weight room).
A
Medina Board will be used to let the wrestler know when they are warming up, in
the hole, on-deck and wrestling. Match numbers will be used. P.A.
announcements will be kept to a minimum.
There
will be minimal electrical outlets available in the cafeteria, however, each
team will be provided a table to stage their food and drink. A full
concession menu will also be available for purchase.
Weigh-ins,
Passes and Start Time
The scales will open at 6:30 AM (to check) with weigh-ins
beginning at 7:00 AM. We will weigh in by weight class. Please bring a
copy of your statewide Alpha weight certification sheet.
The
first session will begin at 9:00 AM. There will be a short break before
finals, allowing staff to reset the gym. In lieu of clearing the gym and
re-charging, we will only charge one entrance fee of $8 (adult) and $6 (student/seniors).
Children under 5 are free. All teams will be provided passes for the
wrestlers competing, coaches and three statisticians.
Tournament
Style and Placing
The
tournament will be run using a double elimination bracket. We will seed
top six using the established criteria.
The
bracket will only be redrawn in the case of a #1-#4 seeds scratching. A
wrestler who misses weight on the day of the tournament will be scratched and
his spot will become a forfeit. That wrestler will not be able to move
into a higher weight division. If a wrestler fails to show to the scale, the line he
previously inhabited will become a bye.
Team
points will be awarded to 6th
place, however awards will only be given to 4th place.
Tournament
Fee
If
you have not yet submitted your team entrance fee, please do so as soon as
possible.
Please
contact either one of us with any questions or concerns you may have. See
you on January 5th.
Sincerely,
John
